This is a fantastic article on slow medicine by Dr. Victoria Sweet, author of “God’s Hotel.” Slow Medicine (as opposed to Fast Medicine) is just taking the time to talk to and examine patients, call other doctors, go over lab tests and X-rays, think about diagnosis, discontinue medications that are no longer needed, and to try new medication – but carefully. I am a big advocate of Slow Medicine. I believe in spending more one-on-one time with my patients, educating them, and truly helping them get health, not just treating symptoms.
