If you’re like me and eat a lot of eggs during the week, you’re probably tossing out a lot of shells. Did you know that birds love to eat egg shells? It’s an especially wonderful calcium-rich snack for female birds. So instead of throwing out your egg shells every morning, find yourself a large container to store them in and then at the end of the week you can create your egg shell birdseed!
When you’re ready…
- Heat oven to 325 F
- Bake shells for 20-30 minutes to kill off any bacteria
- Crush shells
- Mix into your regular bird seed or sprinkle in your grass/sidewalk
